Guatapé
Another cute Colombian village, this one a little closer to Medellín, so Susy and me just went there for a day trip.

The houses here are all decorated with "zocalos", colorful reliefs that make for quite pretty pictures and show what the place's main income is: tourism.

The former holiday island of Pablo Escobar on the artificial lake (the area was flooded after the creation of a large dam to provide energy for Medellín) is abandoned and the area is safe again and a common place for weekend tourism. On a Tuesday it was fairly quiet though, even the mototaxis to the El Peñol monolith didn't leave all that frequently so after misinterpreting the Lonely Planet directions we ended up walking for 1.5 hours towards El Peñol as no mototaxi passed by. This provided us with some nice views across the lake on the way though and the hot path above the water attracted some nice dragonflies as well:

Der Aufstieg auf den El Peñol hat 679 steile Stufen für 200m Höhe, die man auf gut 2000 m und nach einer kleinen Wanderung auch ganz gut spürt. Der Ausblick von oben ist die Anstrengung aber allemal wert!
