Que Bonito!

It's in the name - this place is just simply beautiful. Not the town itself, pretty boring actually, but the surrounding nature makes every uncomfortable busride and the high prices for tours here more than worthwhile!
The highlight is definitely snorkelling in the amazingly clear rivers with lots of fish and also kaimans (saw a small one on the side of the river we were snorkelling in) and anacondas (didn't meet it in the water and actually, I think I prefer it that way):
Weitere Attraktionen rund um Bonito sind der Buraco das Araras, eine Felsformation, deren Wände von den rot-grünen Aras als Nistplätze genutzt werden und die Gruta do Lago Azul, eine Tropfsteinhöhle mit einem See der intensiv blau schillert. Die Tour am Buraco das Araras hat mir besonders gut gefallen, da die Führung von einer Biologin gemacht wurde und man (für mich) wirklich interessante Informationen bekam über den Ort, seine Geschichte, Ökologie und den Vergleich der Cerrado-Vegetation in diesem Schutzgebiet zum umliegenden Weideland.
The red-and-green Macaws are extremely pretty, extremely abundant in this area of the Buraco das Araras because of the great nesting sites in the red stone walls and also extremely loud. In Brazilian Portuguese, a mad woman is also said to be "arara"...
The blue lagoon in the Gruta do Lago Azul shimmers in the most amazing color:
Das war Brasilien für's erste - mittlerweile bin ich schon gut in Kolumbien angekommen und war schon vom Flugzeug aus ganz begeistert vom Anblick der Anden. Neue Fotos von hier gibt's bald!
